Our approach

First in the trade to load timber into conventional bulk carriers, rather than wait for purpose-built log tonnage. A wider pool of ships means a shorter wait for the shipper, and a laycan that answers to the forest rather than to the fleet list.

05 · Leadership

Led from the engine roomand the bridge.

A chief engineer who has run ship-owning businesses, and a master mariner who has spent a career on safety and vetting. Between them, most of a lifetime at sea.

Harvinder Pal Singh, Managing Director
Managing Director

Harvinder Pal Singh

Founded Isher Holdings to prove that timber does not need a specialised ship.

Harvinder went to sea in 1992 and came ashore as a certified Chief Engineer, having sailed bulk carriers, self-unloaders, gantry ships, car carriers and gas carriers.

Ashore he ran technical operations, then commercial and finally the whole business, as Technical Director, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive of a Hong Kong ship-owning company, where he built the timber desk into a major charterer of logs from Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Africa and the Americas.

He founded Isher Holdings to carry that trade under its own flag, and was first in the market to load logs into conventional bulk carriers rather than wait for purpose-built log tonnage.

Director

Capt. Rajinder Singh Rattu

Came ashore from command, and has spent the years since on safety and vetting.

Rajinder sailed as Chief Officer from 1999 and took command in 2004. He came ashore as a Marine Manager and onboard trainer, sailing with vessels to run internal audits and prepare crews for inspection.

As HSSE Manager he carried the safety and vetting load for a fleet of more than forty vessels, running incident investigation and clearing ships with the oil majors. He then headed crewing for an operator with over 1,500 seafarers, owning strategy, compliance and the relationships with unions and regulators.

He now advises on SIRE 2.0 readiness, gap analysis and management-system review, and brings that discipline to every Isher fixture.
